Terms & Conditions

Young Educators Challenge 2024

The Young Educators Challenge (YEC) 2024 is organized by UNICEF Malaysia and Project ID (the organisers). Please read these terms and conditions carefully before applying to be a participant in YEC. By participating, it is implied that the applicants doing so have understood and agreed upon fully and unconditionally to be bound by the terms and conditions as stated in the following. If you do not agree to any of these terms and conditions, you must not proceed to participate in the challenge.

Eligibility

YEC 2024 is only open to all youths registered in Malaysia aged 13-24 years old. Applications can be made as individuals or in teams (max: 3 pax). Team members can be from different schools but must be from the same state. All participants from schools must have a supervising teacher.

Entry

To participate in YEC, participants must first apply through our website. Applications will be open on 15th May 2024 and will be closed on 30th June 2024. Applications received after the deadline will be automatically rejected and will not be taken into consideration. There will be no fees imposed during selections or participation. Confirmed participants will be informed through e-mail around a week from 13th July. All decisions regarding confirmed participants are final.

The Challenge

Applicants are required to submit 2 videos for submission. The criteria for submissions are as follows:

Quantity: 2x Videos (can produce more than 2 but only 2 are eligible for submission)

Format: Full-screen vertical format (9:16)

Privacy: Videos must be set to public for viewing.

Duration: Minimum of 30 seconds and no longer than 1 minute

Languages: English / Bahasa Melayu.

References: All information presented in the video must be cited, giving credit to the source. Plagiarism of any kind will result in disqualification.

Originality: Entries must be original, exclusively created and owned by you.

Community Guidelines: Entries must comply with the social platform's community guidelines.

Copyright: Must not violate or infringe upon any music copyrights and trademarks.

Hashtag: Include the hashtags #YEC2024 #KitaConnect in the caption of your TikTok video.

Tags: Follow and tag @project.id and @UNICEFMsia in your video to ensure your entry is considered for the competition.

Prohibited elements: No videos that are lewd, obscene, political, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libellous, illegal, offensive or otherwise contain inappropriate content or objectionable material.

Your video submissions will be evaluated based on but not limited to the following criteria:

Social Reception (i.e. Likes, Shares, Views)

How many users were exposed to your content, how much your audience enjoys your content, does the content resonated with them?

Content Engagement Rate

The amount of interaction your videos (or a campaign, or a whole account) get compared to its reach or audience size.

Content Retention Rate

The measure of how engaging and relevant your content is for your audience, and how well it meets their needs and expectations. ​

Winning Prizes

The organisers of YEC 2024 will be obligated to award the following prizes to the winners as stated below:

Prizes are fixed and not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be exchanged for one thing or another. The organisers accept no responsibility for any tax or other liability that may arise from the prize winnings. The organizer reserves the right to request the winners to provide proof of identification in order to claim the winning prize. Failure to do so may cause forfeiture of the prize.

The organisers have the right to disqualify teams that are found to violate the terms and conditions stipulated on this page and below:

Copyright and Right to Ownership

The copyright of all the teams’ works shall be in accordance with the Copyright Act 1987 (ACT 332) and any of its amendments for the time being in force in Malaysia. The originator of the idea shall retain the copyright of his work whereby no alterations may be made without his formal consent. In all cases, the originator of the idea shall retain the right of reproduction, subject always to the provision of Article 16 (b) above.

Personal Data Protection

For Participants

You represent that you are over the age of thirteen (13) years old. If you are over thirteen, but under the legal age of majority, your parent or legal guardian must consent to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, and affirm that they accept this Agreement on behalf of, and bear all legal and financial responsibility and liability for the actions of, any child between the age of 13 and majority, and expressly ratify and confirm any acts of any such child and all users of the account.

For Parents/Guardians

Introduction

This Personal Data Protection Notice (“Notice”) is issued pursuant to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (“Act”) and for the purpose of this Notice, "Personal Data" shall have the meaning as ascribed to it under the Act. We recognize the importance of maintaining the privacy, security and accuracy of Personal Data in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, consistent with our responsibilities and applicable law. We are committed to ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of Personal Data relating to you and your child. This Notice applies to the persons governed under the Act and serves to inform you how your Personal Data is controlled, processed and/or used by the organisers. For the purpose of this Agreement, Personal Data includes data collected and to be collected before and after issuance of this Notice. This notice is issued in accordance with the Act to all individuals who voluntarily submit Personal Data to the organisers for the stated purposes.

Individuals involved in the collection of Personal Data include parents/guardians, children (children under the age of 18 with the permission of parents/guardians) and the organisers. Personal data we collect from you and your child according to individual needs is inclusive of:
